Experiment for mixed media final piece

Here, I have been experimenting with a variety of mixed media to help me come up with a final piece to present to my tutors. It has information about poverty in Africa and I have also explained why I have chosen to do this, what I have used and how I have used it.

Mixed media final piece

This is my mixed media final piece. Its about poverty in Africa and i have tried to show what's happening in just one image. I am going to sick cardboard behind this painting so it will stay in place and not get damaged, plus I want it to be sort of 3D.

Textile final piece

I have now finished my final piece. But instead of using image maker, I have used glue be cause my material in some places have a different texture and the image maker wouldn't work on it.

This is my final piece for the textile unit. Its a 2D dress with materials sewn on it to create a landscape from my community, as the theme for this project is community. I will finish this by using image maker to put on images and logos from different parts of my community.

Mixed media

I have photocopied 4 images here of a ballerina then I have created a different background to 3 and added tissue paper onto her tutu on the fourth.

Research on narrative image making

These are research on editorial illustration, which are made for magazines and newspapers and comics.

Apeture book

This is my finished aperture book. I chose a song the meant a lot to me and with the lyrics, I created a book out of it using images, a lot of colour and some of the lyrics. On some pages, I sewed on buttons in the gaps. Once all the pages were done, I created a cover for it using cardboard and abit of material, this was a fun project.

Altered book

I quite like this page from my altered book because of how the different strands of curls come across each other. It created an effective piece. All I have done here is chosen an image that goes with the writing on the page and added to the image using oil pastels.

Experementing

I got new inks so I wanted to try out using them with oil pastels and I think it's turned out well. I made a drawing of one of my love birds at home using oil pastels then I started flicking some green ink around it. Using a straw, I blew the ink outwards to create an effective piece. I love making a mess.

Mixed media

Here I have taken an image off the internet, and used blue paint on one, pink oil pastell on one and a charcoal on another to create a dress on the ballet dancer using different techniques and textures. I will be adding 1 more once its finished. I enjoy changing appearances on a picture and making it my own.

Textile

I had great fun hand stitching these materials onto a big piece of fabric, then using the sewing machine and creating this.

I cut out the fabric on top to release bright, bursting coloured materials from underneath.

I made this yesterday using a page from an old book. I chose words from it and from those words, I created what I imagined.

I am hoping to gain a lot more skills this year. I also want to improve my drawing skills and textile skills.
